Inventory Posting Groups

"Read-only inventory posting groups, which classify items for inventory G/L posting. The code is already published on the records that carry it; this is what the code means."

Why you need it

The posting group code appears on masters and documents throughout this API. What it does not tell you is which G/L accounts it directs postings to, and that mapping is the whole point of a posting group.

With this feed a report can tie a subledger balance back to the control account it posts to, and show the chart-of-accounts consequence of a master-data choice.

Where the accounts live

Unlike the customer and vendor groups, an inventory posting group does not carry its accounts on the group itself. Business Central holds them on Inventory Posting Setup, one row per (location, posting group) pair, which this endpoint does not publish. What you get here is the group list, which is what valueEntries groups by.
