Dimensions

Any table that carries dimensions now has eight flat columns, shortcutDimension1Code through shortcutDimension8Code. Making it easier to apply these dimensions directly on the API endpoints.

Send the dimension value code in the matching column; Business Central validates it against the dimension exactly as the UI does. Omitted columns are left untouched on a PATCH.

PATCH /salesOrders(<id>)
{
  "shortcutDimension1Code": "SALES",
  "shortcutDimension2Code": "WEST"
}

Where the values come from

Dimensions 1 and 2 are the global dimensions. Dimensions 3–8 are surfaced through extension fields. List the dimension definitions themselves through the read-only dimensions endpoint, and create the dimension values under them via the Dimension Values endpoint.
